Michael MacMillanMichael MacMillan – Director

Michael MacMillan is a ground-breaking pioneer in the Canadian broadcast industry and a passionate volunteer to numerous community-based organizations. Michael co-founded Atlantis Films Limited in 1978, which would acquire Alliance Communications in 1998 to become Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. As Executive Chairman, Michael engineered the sale of Alliance Atlantis to Canwest Communications and Goldman Sachs in 2007.

Michael is known for his creativity, determination and his track record of innovation. Under his leadership, Alliance Atlantis grew to operate 13 Canadian specialty channels and developed internationally acclaimed television shows, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He has produced over 1,000 films and TV programs since 1978, which have won nearly 600 Canadian and international awards combined. Michael recently founded Blue Ant Media, which is in the process of acquiring a majority interest in GlassBOX Television, an integrated media company that owns several Canadian specialty television networks and operates broadband portals, blogs, mobile sites and applications.

Marc FaucherMarc Faucher – Director

As a Partner in the BlackBerry Partners Fund, Marc is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and overseeing direct investments in a broad range of mobile application and infrastructure software companies. With 17 years of mobility and business development experience, Marc combines technical and business insight to play an integral role in the strategic direction and overall growth of emerging companies.

Prior to joining the fund in August 2008, Marc spent six years with Summerhill Venture Partners (formerly BCE Capital) investing in communications and technology centric companies throughout North America. He worked for Bell Mobility in a corporate development capacity and also with The Regis McKenna Group, a strategic consulting firm focused on companies in emerging technology markets. He began his career with Ericsson Communications as a product manager for wireless networks. Marc has a BASc in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
